2026 Census

Statistics Canada

Challenge

Statistics Canada needed a national advertising campaign for the 2026 Census that clearly explained requirements and motivated participation across a vast, diverse population. The work had to fully comply with Government of Canada standards on accuracy, accessibility, and inclusiveness in both official languages. Special attention was required for northern, rural, Indigenous, newcomer, and other hard-to-reach populations, with messaging tailored for cultural relevance, language, and regional realities.

Solution

We developed a multi-phased, multi-channel campaign focused on clarity, accessibility, and representation. Simple, direct messaging guided Canadians to connect the dots on why the census matters, what they must do, and how to respond online or on paper. We built adaptations for northern and Indigenous communities, community-informed content, and adjusted media timing around regional election schedules. In the animation style, we wanted it to speak to all Canadians, so they could see themselves in it no matter where they are in the country.
